Chunkin Cheeses

Our Big Bear turned 3 this month!  Way to go Isaac!  This cake was totally made by Chris, by the way.  He's awesome.

The clan + Miriam went to Chuck E. Cheese's (aka Chunkin Cheeses) to celebrate the big day.

Deep birthday discussion.

Deep birthday contemplation.

Isaac is an air hockey prodigy.

Luke, sadly, is a gambling prodigy.

Thomas theTank Engine, welcome to our home.

Burrito as Big as Your Head

Sad that we had to move to a Polish neighborhood to finally get some good Mexican food.  Our favorite spot is just right around the corner from our house.  This $5 burrito will feed four adults easy!

Playing Time

Tremendous fumble recovery Luke!

Luke's contributions to our family team have been grossly underrepresented on our blog compared to his efforts. Here are a few more shots to try and even up the score.

Large Marge

A couple weeks ago Miriam "dragged" me to Margie's Candies, an ice cream and candy shop in Chicago that has been in business since 1921.  Their hot fudge is otherworldly and their portions are, well, large.  This is a before-and-after of my banana split with mint chip, coconut, and pistachio.

The shot I took of Miriam downing her treat didn't turn out as I expected, thus I am including this picture of her simply because I love it.

Something Borrowed

We recently attended Chris' stepsister's wedding in Encinitas, CA.  They held it at a dear friend's house.  The property was so beautiful I just couldn't stop myself from taking pictures.  The couple has lived here and been tinkering with it for 30 years.  A true labor of love.

Margot and Orkun are the bride and groom and some of the most brilliant people on the planet, by the way.  You can find them at UCLA looking into microscopes at fruit flies making discoveries about protein cells.  But for this day, they are beautiful, saying beautiful things to one another.  May you have a long life together!

Gourmet Grazers

Chris and I got comped some tickets to Gourmet Chicago, where chefs and alcohol distributors get together downtown in Millenium Park to share their wares.  We felt pretty swank.

Wild Animals

A few moms from my Mothers of Pre-Schoolers (MOPS) group braved the Lincoln Park Zoo with our slew of children.  I learned a valuable lesson that day which helped me gain some perspective...boys are way more wild than girls!

Luke has befriended Maggie who needs a place to sit and avert her eyes while in the reptile house.
