FĂștbol

One of the most redeeming factors of Chicago's taxes, as far as I can tell, is the Park District.  Mere steps from our house is an enormous park where Isaac takes a soccer class for 3-4 year olds.  He has a grand time, and thankfully, his teacher is the epitome of patient.  This first shot is of Luke as head cheerleader.

Let me draw your attention to Isaac's location in relation to the rest of the class, and then let me remind you of his teacher's patience.  We're working on following instructions.

Let me just say now that Isaac is going to be a good athlete.
He's a natural and he's pretty intense.
I know I'm his mom, but c'mon, look at this dribbling!

Whoa

I was able to ride again recently; first time in two years!
Hopefully I can keep it up a few times a month.
Big difference from five years ago when I was riding five or so horses a day.

Eternal Salvation and Vegetables

Isaac started Sunday School a few weeks back.  If his saintly teachers can instill in him that Jesus loves him and those carrot sticks are edible, I will be rather pleased.  (And yes, that's Luke in the background already hitting the books.)

Madre y Padre

I love my Mom.  For her birthday, nothing but the best.  Indigo Grill is yummy amazingness.

Pipian Crusted Brie
jalapeno jelly, honey roasted garlic, grilled nopales, mole negro, scallion flatbread

Grilled Romaine
fried capers, parmesan crisp, chipotle-anchovy creme, fig jam, flatbread

After dinner, it was off to Petco Park to see the (horrible, terrible, no-good) Padres.  However, it was quite a thrill to watch from three rows behind their dugout.  We left early only to walk in the door at home and watch them come from behind and win in a jump on each other in the middle of the field mob-like fashion.  Oh well.  Good times nonetheless, Mom.  You're the best!  (And give my thanks to your real estate broker for the tix!)

Crustacean Curiosity

The Birch Aquarium in La Jolla, CA is a gem.

My nephew Noah, who is a regular visitor, showed Isaac the ropes for his first dip into the tide pools.  Which reminds me...accolades to my sister Carrie and her husband Chris for getting Noah out and about...the Zoo, the Wild Animal Park, this aquarium.  You inspire me.

Observing birds fly in a V formation is a highlight in nature for me.  Communication.  Annual travel.  A little family just making their way in the world today, just cruising over head.  Love it.
